This isn't going to be much of a post. I keep thinking of things to write about, but I got started rather close to the end of the day.
I've seen several people do year-in-review or in a few cases decade-in-review posts for the ones that just ended. I shall be brief on mine:
In 2010, I moved out-of-state for the first time in my life.
From 2001 through 2010, I graduated from college, got married, and completed graduate school. I don't think it beats the 1970s for my parents, but it was still pretty eventful.
For 2011, I have other more specific goals, but my main focus for self-improvement is going to be punctuality. This will largely involve imposing a reasonably regular schedule on myself where one is not externally imposed. Others are to improve my record-keeping, overall fitness, and satisfactory use of recreational time.
And in light of the first -- I'm heading to bed.

Possibly any of you who are interested are already signed up for this, but in case you're not: Ebates is a website that gives you back a percentage of your purchase price when you shop through them. You have to sign up and log in, then follow the link to the appropriate online store from their site, to get the rebates. They mail out the checks every three months, and you have to have at least $5.01 in spending rebates to get the check. So, I want to order a shirt from Threadless, because they finally reprinted the one ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif?v=92.3) rj_anderson posted about this spring, and it's gorgeous. However, I am slightly bewildered by the sizing. I rarely order "girly"-cut t-shirts. I can comfortably wear anything from a small to a large in the guys'/unisex sizing, and sometimes one more up and/or down. I somehow doubt there's quite as much leeway in having a top look good when it's designed to be more fitted. But I went to measure some of my more fitted tops, and got... well, 16-18 inches. They have a small at 15.75, flattened out and measured across the armpits, and a large at 17.75. To add to the confusion, ThinkGeek lists ladies' t-shirts with a medium measuring 14" across the armpits and being appropriate for size 4-6. I gather I should expect at least a little shrinking. Any advice from people who have ordered from Threadless before, and/or make a habit of wearing both types of t-shirt? I kind of want to order soon, because this shirt apparently sold out fast last time.

Yesterday, I got around to something I've felt like I probably ought to do for a while: I went to be taught CPR. For the sake of efficiency, I signed up for the one that covered adult, child, and infant CPR, as well as how to use an automated external defibrillator and some basic first aid.
My health classes actually did cover quite a bit of it, but I didn't remember most of it enough to do anybody any good. (You're supposed to review it every so often anyway, and my last health class was about twelve years ago.) I know I was introduced to an AED once before, but I'm not sure when.
Hopefully if this ever comes up I will actually remember it at the time.
I think this afternoon I might go visit the animal shelter. We're probably not going to get any pets until we're out of apartments, but the shelter people assured me it's okay to just visit. For all I know this is like bookstores that let you read: they figure enough of the sort of people who would come hang out there will eventually take something home! And, yes, I am knowingly putting myself in the way of temptation. My mind seems to keep angling lately toward things like buying a house, getting a pet, and maybe even having a baby. Er, not all at once, but still. What I should really do first is focus on figuring out my next career step, which will affect how much we're likely to move around the country in the next few years. If I feel compelled to take on new caretaking responsibilities, there's always a nice houseplant.
Visits are still good. Maybe I can be a little less staticky this time. There was this one cat I was trying to pet last time I was there, and I think after stroking his fur a bit I accidentally shocked his ears!
